Valentines & Anti-Valentine ATCs

Belated Happy New Year & Happy Valentine's Day! Life has been busy but I will try to get back to doing more blogging. This past month I made some Valentine & Anti-Valentine ATCs for a Ten Two Studios design team challenge. Three had rotating centers so that they could be both for and against romance. The catch is that you have to have your axis (wire in the one above and string in the two below) exactly centered and firmly attached, or your spinning part will not turn nicely in the opening!

I used the new ATC-sized images that you can buy as a downloadable file at Ten Two Studios and print multiple copies, along with Valentine and Anti-Valentine themed words and Bingo cards.

I didn't have the patience to make more than three of what I started referring to as the Flipping Valentine ATCs, so the rest of my ATCs made for the Milwaukee ATC group's February theme "Love Actually" are more straightforward, with no moving parts!

Anti-Valentines

The first Ten Two Studios Design Team challenge for 2012 was to make Anti-Valentines in response to Valentine projects we had done in the past. I collaged some black-ribboned chipboard hearts and "Bloody Valentine" Artist Trading Cards, using images and text from the Ten Two Studios' Anti-Valentine and Black & White collections plus some vintage poison pharmacy labels.

Zombie Valentine ATCs

I've been making Valentine ATCs for the Milwaukee ATC group's February meeting. The theme is "Word Play" and I'm interpreting it VERY loosely with my Zombie-themed cards! I used images from the Ten Two Studios Zombie collection and text printed out in a lovely font called Zombified designed by Chad Savage.

And before you ask, yes, I have read Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, but was disappointed with it. (The prequel, Dawn of the Dreadfuls was actually better, as was Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters.) My favorite Zombie movie is still Shaun of the Dead.

Anti-Valentine Contest

This pin-cushion in my entry in the Dabbled Black Heart Anti-Valentine Contest. Oddly enough, I had already made it, along with 2 other black hearts below, for a Ten Two Studios Design Team challenge to make some quick and easy Valentine-ish projects. But as soon as I saw those Harry Clarke images from the Black & White domino sheet, all my anti-romantic tendencies kick in. Also the Milwaukee ATC group's February theme is "Black & White & Red All Over" so I have been thinking in that color scheme lately.

My husband's comment on seeing these: "Should I be getting you psychiatric help?"
