This past week was the one-year anniversary of Outdoor Cat going through the Wisconsin Humane Society's Trap-Neuter-Return program. I last reported in December that she had moved inside for the winter, and now that spring is here, she still prefers to stay inside. She'll still ask us to open the front door, but then she'll usually only stay around the front porch for awhile, eating some grass and watching the world. As soon as the neighbors come out, she runs back inside.
It's interesting how many typical indoor cat habits she now has, such as scratching at the bathroom door if it's closed and sleeping next to my chair in my office. Occasionally if I don't get up at 6 a.m., I'll find her sitting on the bed beside me, staring very earnestly at me. We no longer close her in a separate room when we go out, and for the most part the three cats tolerate each other, though there's always the occasional hissing match when they cross paths. At 6:10 this morning I had both Nuts & Outdoor Cat walking over me, within a foot of each other without hissing because they were both intent on getting me out of bed to feed them. And BOTH had food in their dish but wanted me to pet them and move the food around for them before they would eat. (Naturally my husband slept through this ;o)
Next step will be moving OC's litter box down into the basement with the others so I can reclaim the guest/sewing room!

Your outdoor cat is one fortunate puss!
She is one spoiled kitty :o) But like all cats she has learned to bend us to her will! :D
we took in a stray that was somewhat wild 2 years ago. He still lives mostly outside but sleeps in our sun porch and lives there in the winter. Him and our orange cat hate each other to this very day so we are always working to keep them apart. that's is great your cats are getting along! :)
Thanks for stopping by, Casey. I wonder if it makes a difference male vs. female cats? All three of our are older females so for the most part they ignore each other since they all have separate rooms to sleep in.
Oh what a joy to discover another cat sympathizer! Good for you. Keep kitty in where its safe and always warm.
Thanks for visiting, Entre Nous, and though she's called "Outdoor Cat" she spends all her time indoors now :D
what is it with cats needing someone to move their food around for them in order to eat? my 2 cats are like that as well. no matter how much food is in there, if a certain amount of time has passed it needs to be moved in order for them to continue eating. weird!
Kati, I think they want to pretend it's live prey so it should move :D If someone invented jumping kibble they'd be rich!
I have a cat who is demanding of his food too even when he has some. We learned that he only likes it to the middle of the bowl because he never eats off the sides of it.
@Kari - Outdoor Cat is exactly the same! She waits for me to push her food to the center of the dish :D I wonder if it has anything to do with not liking her whiskers brushing the side of the dish?
Somehow we lost our kitty, and you cat remind me him, he was very spoiled... :(
